#1 1200 ute disc upgrade!!!
Kiri1 Posted on: 2010/7/6 7:12
Hi datto peeps. What is the best option on disc upgrades? I have looked at several methods, in the club and at other websits, either the disc and caliper upgrade, or the hole strut asembly replaisement? I have no prob with modifications only with no brakes. What option, in your opinions, would be the best(reliable) option in all areas???
thanks.

Best option is to fit the Coupe strut & brake assembly.

A true bolt-in. Most reliable. Least expensive.

or 120y struts which are also a bolt in and the later model 120y struts have better rotors and calipers ,they have a slightly larger rotor and have an Alloy PBR caliper (ADM) ,but are kinda harder to find and are usualy more expensive

Find some 1200 car/coupe disc brake struts. Then do an S13 upgrade. All the brakes you'll ever need for a street driven vehicle.

1200 coupe, to small. the 1400 champ ute have the bigest std brackes, but to small. Was thinking stanza strats but not that avalible and expencive.

Dont know what a s13 is but it sounds better, was thinking of skyline struts (ventelated)???
Or bigger??

you should try maddat ,they might be willing to post to south africa ,or you could try the stanza struts and then put land cruiser or 240k brakes on them .if you lived in australia parts would be easy to get and cheap ,but there should be a setup that you can do with parts available in your country

What do you mean too small?

The Champ 1400 has 12" wheels, you aren't going to get a rotor much larger than the Coupe brakes under that wheel.
* Tyres 155SR12
* Wheels Size/Type 4Jx12/Steel

I've got both brake setups here. My sedan has the GL "coupe" brakes, and my ute has the 1994 Sunny Truck brakes. The new ones don't look any bigger, but have

New: a booster and a single-piston floating caliper
Old: Unboosted with two-piston caliper

The new brakes appear to have a larger pad, at least it's a more typical modern shape.

S13 = nissan silvia, 180SX, 200SX

The drift boys change their std brakes out for the larger Skyline brakes all the time, you can pick up the original brakes for next to nothing.

The 1.8 brakes should fit under a 13" wheel but the 2.0 will need 14".

Disc slips over the std disc hub (old disc removed) with light machining of each and then a caliper adaptor bracket to fit the caliper to the strut.
Can't remember the size of discs etc but vented and a fair upgrade over std. Check the wiki for more details..
