#1 seal oil weep
Posted on: 2010/7/9 5:25
just wondering if there is a product like JB weld or knead it that is suitable for oil? have a weep from a weld on my sump, and to reweld would mean engine out or x member out job to remove the sump.

As its a weep, would knead it work on the hot sump or if oil touched it?

I have used it on a cracked thermostat housing successfully before, and even a water pump for a period of time til i replaced the waterpump.

Just drain the oil and weld it with the sump on.
Just go easy with the welding amperage to prevent the possability of penatration or scale on the inside of the sump.

I dont have experience with the puttys.

what type of welding would it require? mig, arc, tig?

im bad at them all!

if low amp than arc is out, must be a good mig or a tig.

was worried about welding with sump on in case of oil flash fire (unlikely but likely for my skills lol).

should drive up to you when your set up

Cos it should only take 10 mins i can do it any time. There is no fire risk.

mig or tig is fine.
