Electric Cooling Fan for an '80 210?
Tomcat
Posted on: 2010/7/23 21:39
I live in Las Vegas, NV (a desert inferno in the summer); and need to know if anyone knows what electric cooling fan/s would be a good choice for the A14 w/ A/C in my '80 210 Wagon. My sister gave me the car, which came from a mild Northern California climate where it had no cooling issues for the previous 30 years. I must change to an electric cooling fan if I expect to be able to use the wagon during the desert summer. I was thinking of using an FAL electric fan designed for motorsports use. If anyone could make some recommendations, it would be most appreciated.
Thanks, Tom

The engine-driven fan will keep your engine cooler than an electric fan.
Does your have the huge seven-blade fan with a thermostatic hub? The hub may be worn out. Datsun fitted an electric fan for 1981, I think for a touch of economy rather than keep the engine cool.

Thanks for the reply. I wound up going with a Flex-a-lite 12" extreme "S" blade fan (1500+ CFM), w/ variable temperature control. I also had my mechanic send the radiator out to be rebuilt. The radiator isn't done yet though. That should keep the desert heat at bay!

Tom one thing I do remember about running the 1200 as a street car above 4000 RPM (freeway) the car would run fairly hot, the bigger radiator helped a lot. If you need any help with the 210 shoot me an email. I also think I have a 210 repair manual around, I'll bring it to the October Track Day.............if you're gonna be at the Sept 4th PCA event let me know I'll bring some goodies for you.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for posting; the 210 manual will really come in handy! Hopefully I can get the ITR out to that LVRPCA event in September. If not, I'll see you at NSXPO! Regards, Tom Gaylor You can view topic.
