#1 A14 oil problems
Velociti Posted on: 2010/7/25 11:52
We are having a problem with a A14 motor. There is no oil getting to the head and valve train. We have replaced the oil pump already, but still nothing. Some advise PLEASE !!!!!!!!!! We are running a hot A12 head on the engine, but I dont think this is the problem. We did reinstall the origanal A14 head, but still no oil getting up top.

you may have the wrong head bolt in the oiler hole, a14 have one bolt longer then the rest, which goes in the center hole, dizy side of the engine. check that first. cheers ernie

I recently rebuilt my a15 engine and thought a similar problem was occuring . There is not a large flow of oil to the top end of the engine as i expected but merely enough to lube things up. I ran the engine for a while and i was surprised how long it took to cover the rocker gear. I hope this helps.

I have checked the head bolts and the long one is at the oiler hole. Could this oiler hole maybe be blocked and if so how do I clear it, We have been driving the ute for 3 months with that noise, its getting worse not better.

Take a look at this. Both the block and head are different:

Also there are two "long" oil bolts, which are the same length:

11057-H2301 BOLT-CYLINDER HEAD LONG, TO OIL GALLERY (TO 6/73)
11057-H5000 BOLT-CYLINDER HEAD LONG, TO OIL GALLERY (FROM 7/73)

i had the same problem a while ago, used 1200 head on 1400 block. ended up that i had to prime the oil pump to get it to build pressure.

We found where the noise was coming form. A siezed rocker. We dont want to open the engine, but would this rocker have made a mark or ridge on the cam. ADVISE PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!

Unlikely. The cam and lifter is not lubed by the rocker shaft.
