Is this too small for the A12?

The flange is the right size, but the actual filter is rather small ...

sounds like a great size........... for the rocker cover breather...........

size doesnt actually matter, except it effect how often you need to clean/change it

essentially air will suck through the path of least resistance, once that area of the filter blocks up a little it will suck from somewhere else. then after a while all areas are dirty and flow is restricted

so a small air filter is ok if you clean regularily, in the case of this filter maybe once a fortnight or month? can you be bothered doing that?

Sorry but that's not correct. Yes when a filter gets more dirty it will become more restrictive, but the smaller the filter the more restriction before you even start.

The same goes for any filter be it intake, crankcase breather, etc...

People don't run bigger filters so that they don't have to clean them as often. They run bigger filters so that there is less restriction.

I see both points of view ... But the way i look at it the stupid frypan has a TINY inlet compared to that filter, so it would be alot more restrictive ...

I can imagine the maintenance required to keep a filter that small from blocking up too quickly ..and when it starts to clog up the airflow rate would drop dramatically. Which is why I went with the biggest damn filter I could find! :P

lol ... Very nice Sam ... But mt problem is fitting it under the bonnet ...

I run a 9inch diameter by 3 inch high filter off something I sourced from wesfil. You should see what they do for the V8 supercars air filter, it's definatley big.
