Lemonhead
Posted on: 2010/11/7 11:30
Can anybody tell me what needs to be done to fit a set of Sunny struts to a 1200 ute which has a set of drum brakes on the front at the moment.
Any help appreciated.

Easy one, just pulled this from the wiki for clarification for you.
The B310 strut swap into a B110 is popular because it is a true bolt-in swap -- no cutting or machining needed. You get better brakes, and better availability of strut inserts. We are talking about B310s with 13" wheels, not those with 12" wheels which have small brakes. All USA models have the large brakes, and all Canada models except A12A Canada models. In Australia, any A14 or A15 powered B310 should have the good parts. B310: 1979-1982 Sunny

but do they bolt straight to early model utes? as they have the smaller front end parts.

need LCA's that take the later ball joint so late 120y/same years +later ute/sunny/stanza. The tie rod ends shouldn't pose a problem in terms of the taper size or anything but it's been a while since I did the swap.

Don't utes already have the larger bottom arms/castor rods/lower ball joints the same as the B310s already?
IF you're using the B310 top hat, you'll need to drill out the bolt holes in the strut tower from 8mm to 10mm.
