A14 water suction pipe replacement
Stefano

Hey brains trust
My water suction pipe is looking rusty and a bit sad so I bought this replacement off eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... RK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1935wt_689 I assumed it screwed in to the block but it just has a slightly machined end and seems to just fit in with no obvious fastener. Has anyone replaced one of these? How do you get the old one out, and what holds the new one in?

Yes, sure. You use vice-grips on the old one, hammer it off.
The new one is a press fit. You can carefully hammer it in. Attach file: suction.jpg (23.74 KB)![]()

So it doesn't even need any gasket goo stuff to glue it in?

No, but it wouldn't hurt to put a bit of silicone sealer on the taper (just a little bit) on it before inserting it.

for those of us with a ham fisted approach to removing pipes (me) you can take the more Datsunly advice and use JB weld to keep the old pipe in or secure the new pipe. I've only had to apply a smidgen more to the job I did as it cracked from vibrations.
