#1 Hayabusa Powered Datsun 1200 Coupe

sorry if this is a repost, but thought it was cool and everyone would appreciate. I am really thinking about this swap, patiently waiting to see if the drive shaft from the busa gearbox holds up or if the busa gearbox explodes with the added weight. sounds AWESOME

there is another vid of it driving:

Just take the countershaft sprocket, machine the teeth off it and then use it as a flange to mount your driveshaft to.
Reverse, you can either use an electric drive or something like a quaife reversing gearbox. There is a guy on PF that actually uses the original gearbox from his starlet mid mounted. Leaves it in 4th when going forward using the busa box and then changes it into reverse when necessary. Just imagine all six speeds in reverse

it's only 1300 cc. But has 95 lb-ft torque. Which is a lot more than an A12 and more evevem than an A15.

I think they just fit a starter type motor and drive it off a ringgear somewhere on the drivetrain, haven't seen any pics but would have to be somewhere, is used in a lot of bike engined kit cars.

here is one for a chain drive diff:

I like bike engined cars..

the dual gearbox idea is a neat way to get reverse.. at 1:1 in 4th would you expect much driveline loss?

Cheers

You wouldn't expect much as you are only turning the layshaft freely but I guess it would be some. You could even remove the non used gears if you wanted, would remove any extra points of failure and possibly some parsitic drag.

I guess the biggest downfall would be the added weight and complexity of gear shift linkage..
