#1 trouble fitting 40mm dhla dellorto
77datoute Posted on: 2011/6/23 4:46
went to bolt it up last night and need about 60mm more room inbetween the head and strut tower. Carbys on a redline manifold which meausures 120mm from face to face.
Has anyone run this setup before and how did you make it all fit? Any help?

Might have to use short ram tubes and soft socks instead of a large paper element air cleaner

the carby only has the base plate for a panel filter and would be resting (or very close to) on the strut tower, so theres no room even for short ram tubes.
the guy that was going to help jet and tune it suggested cut a notch out of the strut tower and box it in ( not a fan of that ) or get the manifold customized. which sounds more reasonable

You have the wrong manifold. Here's Dellorto 40s on a Datsun 1200 (using a more appropriate manifold):

He only has the one carb. It's the single sidedraft redline manifold.

I didn't think they were THAT long. Pretty sure the bprojects manifold is deeper than 120mm and they still manage to fit.

EDIT: Bpro manifold is about 110mm maybe less. Still clears on datsun B120 with the socks crushed down a little, trumpets clear fine. Sounds like your manifold comes out much further than 120mm Rhys?
