Wrecking Yard Report

Post your reports (hopefully with pictures) here.
1200s spotted in a yard. Information on yards. What kinds of cars were there, ideas for parts re-use, etc. It's a good time to be a used-part shopper. This year a ton of 1970s cars have appeared, I'm guessing because scrap is sky-high and people are selling the old heaps which have been sitting behind the barn. And also a lot of expensive cars: Jaguar, Mercedes, Alfa, Bimmer and so forth which were almost never seen before. Also a lot of older specialty cars which I've never seen in the budget yards: 1960s and even 1950s mercedes, Fiat spiders, MGB, Porsche 914, etc. The yards are full of cars now.

I noticed that a lot of wrecking yards have gone out of business in the last three years. Yet Pick-N-Pull, a USA national chain, is exanding. They cost $1 or $2 to get in, are 100% self-service, have low fixed prices. They specialize in older cars, mostly 1985-1998 cars.
And all parts are returnable for credit within 30 days. parts prices and car Inventory is online at http://www.picknpull.com $50 for a transmission, any transmission. The 5-speeds are always taken when I get there. But you can get 4-speeds. And Datsun truck 5-speeds. Engine swaps anyone? $160 for an engine, any engine: 7MGE -- today at one yard saw three of these complete ![]() What kind of high-perf V6 is this with studs and domed pistons? I thought it was Alfa Romeo Milano? But there was another with complete engine! ![]() ![]() CA20E from S12 - maybe not a great engine, but it's big and cheap and RWD ![]()

Rotor housings are a worthwhile investment they have gone through the roof recently. A pushrod 2.2 supercharged in one of these or the wagon above yes thanks!

By the way, those Monzas are mostly history now. I saw one last week at a car show, first one I've seen in at least 15 years (it was for sale D...calling your name...). A Monza is a Chevrolet Vega variant -- they had rust problems.
On Saturday I got a 3.545 gearset from a 1979 A10 wagon! I wanted to buy the whole H165 axle assembly drum to drum but they wanted $50 more than just the price of the gears. It has 9" drums (one inch larger than 1200) and is about 2" wider.

Not sure if they are the same drums on a bluey
or some 200Bs here but they can take the 260z finned alloy drums for a good upgrade. I was going this way but now have disc rear end which is very nice actually, very controllable braking with 4 wheel discs. If the h150 3.545 is your way pls holler or try and Australian Kooweee!!
