#1 Andy's 76 Model 1200 Ute
DatsAndy Posted on: 2012/3/24 2:30
Here's my ute I've been tinkering with. Bought it last year for $1500 with a GX bonnet and 3 months rego. Sold the GX bonnet for a decent price and started doing some work on it. Plan is eventually full respray same as engine bay which i did a few weeks back in an off white Ivory. Its regoed with an A14 so i picked one up in a sunny Wagon and will throw it back in as someone had put an early A12 in it but never thankfully changed it on the rego. Will take more pics everything is back in engine bay like wiring and suspension setup which is all rebuilt and repainted also added a 120y sway bar. It's got a lot of good metal still in it but had to replace front rail, drivers sill and sections of the floor, but it has perfect gutters and all up under dash and rails are rust free. Soon to be a daily and sell me Commodore wagon. Just bought a solid 3 bedroom hardy plank house with 12m long X 9m wide shed which has mezzanine floor space for storage toilet and wood fire in it.

There Sunny ball joints and the 2 missing bolts are the castor rod ones there in now. Shes on 4 wheels again now rolling I keep looking at the motor i dont want to start it looks to pretty. Must be getting old as i love the fact the engine went straight in everything fits without mods. Doesnt mean i wont be building me L20b coupe but.

Pics of engine back in with nice new and cleaned up bits. Note the manifold it looks even flasher in real life. Carby has had an overhaul and fuel pump. New water pump just waiting on New thermostat housing. Gearbox is all sparkling found a pressure pack degreaser by 5 star brand that just brings cast alloy etc up like new along with a mate who takes pride in his work, it just foams up and eats all the crap enough to loosen it. Have clutch fitted and aligned new thrust bearing is on carrier and gearbox mount is all freshly painted and ready to go in with box.

You should paint the engine mount black to match everything.
