us - aus A-series engine swap?

Quick dumb question:
If one were to buy a US spec A12 engine, would it bolt into an Aussie 1200 and work without mods?

They are identical engines except for the carburetor.
Early Aussie A12s don't interchange with late Aussie A12s. That's the most important thing: early vs late.

Dear god DO NOT interchange early and late model blocks unless you know exactly what you're doing. I just did that, went from early to late model blocks. Some of the differences I encountered, cam (gear pos.), dizzy pos and dizzy base plate, fuel pump (lengths) sump cover has slight bulge for dip stick, dip stick pos. that's just what I can remember...
