Hi guys been talking to the guy thats going to rebuild my ca18det,one off the things he mentioned was preping the crank.Sorry for my ignorance but what does this actually mean?

It means he can charge you more $$ in fees.
Ask him to provide you a list of what he will actually do to the crank. Prep can mean anything from wiping the dust off, to certain modifications to help with longevity over 400HP.
