Wanted : KA24DE RWD Gearbox

I'm after a Rear Wheel Drive gearbox to suit the KA24 twincam. I'm putting a KA24DE into my 520 wagon as this would be the easiest swap and need the box obviously. I know these are similiar to the silvia SR20 box but the bellhousing is different unfortunately. are the boxes in the terranos similiar? anyway, I know they definitely came out in the US 240SX's but I'm not sure what they were in over here (if infact, they did come out) anyway any assistance to locating one would be appreciated.

Transmission for RWD KA24DE engine block is no problemo: Z-series or KA-series transmissions may be used. Same bell-pattern.
KA24E came in 1989-1992 U12 Pintara (T trims). On KAs, I'm not 100% sure, but think 1) the FWD versions use a different bell-pattern than RWD versions 2) Oil pans differ and you can't swap them (rear sump or front sump). Although some guys say you can swap pans, so perhaps some versions swap. But I think some KA pans won't fit on some other KA engines. Proceed with caution or just modify your crossmember to suit the pan. * USA Nissan Pickup (D21 & D22) is rear sump * USA Nissan 240SX (S13 & S14) is front sump

hmm different bell pattern for the RWD ones you say? cause I was hoping to get one from a U12 bluebird as thats the only platform they came in over here. I'm really hoping I can use this engine because you can get turbo kits on ebay so cheap, same for rebuild kits and clutches etc..
and the bigger size helps with the 520, so I can use it for towing etc. I was going to use install a VG30 turbo but the conversion would be a real headf$%$k in a 520, I know they fit in a 620 but they're slightly longer in the engine bay yea? anyway I'll keep plugging away, hopefully something will turn up.

you're right, from 1999 they had the KA24DE in them... so I know where to look now at least, but were the gearboxes the same as the 240SX .. I'm suspecting no as the ratios would be different for the kind of work they would be expected to do. But if anyone else has any more ideas, I'm all ears..

KA and Z pattern are the same. So you could use a Z18 transmission.
Have you read our KA article? You don't have to use a 240SX gearbox, they are not a great choice for a swap as they are the looongest nissan transmission. A truck transmission is closer to the the length of the 520 transmission.

yeah if you find the navara gearbox you should probably just stick with it. think the gearbox ratios are all pretty similar for the 71c's. they just change diff ratios to suit the car
but yeah the nav box is a little longer than a stumpy box and just as strong as the silvia boxes

cool, that would make things so much easier if this is true! length won;t be a huge problem as I'm doing a conversion anyway and the stronger the better. I'm probably putting a hilux in there eventually. I want a 4 x 114.3 stud pattern so If something comes up with that I might go with it.
