#1 ca18det no spark?
a12datto120y Posted on: 2013/1/12 12:30
hi this engine is not in a datsun but in a 180sx many people have experience with these motors so i thought i would ask.

any way i have a problem where the coil pack dont give spark ( i have tried several coil pack to no avail) WHat i cant figure out is that wire connecting to the coil packs have 11.7 volts after testing it with a multimeter but no spark and spark plug.

Also i removed the CAS and turned it by hand the injectors click so thats working but no spark is given (i have tried my spare CAS still no go)

I have gone over all the wiring many times and tried different ground points for the coil pack ground but i just cannot get a spark.

and yes i have tested my spark plugs on my datsun and it gives a big fat blue spark

Any ideas? ECU fault maybe?

o yer i tried reading the ecu fault codes it only i thing i read the codes wrong because from my reading it says fuel pump but the cylinder fill up with fuel and also oxy sensor which would only effect certain rpm running in closed loop right????

Thanks

ignition module?
Grounding issue? causes probably 90% of electrical problems

if you can get a hold of a spare working ignition module and ecu id probable test both of them

does anyone know were the ground wire from the battery terminal bolts to on the engine?

i couldnt find the spot so i ground it on a bracket near the manifold

also what other grounds should i check?

Thanks!

try manifold metal bracket that holds it in place, thats not alloy

Any bare metal on the engine is OK. Alloy is OK, like the 1200 timing cover.

But the ECU has its own ground/earth wire.

i grounded mine to the engine mount point on the block, and then same on the opposite side to the chassis rail

theres an earth for the ignition module too, my wire was broken inside the insulation or something pretty sure its black from memory
