1975 120Y Stanza SSS wheels

After spending countless hours trawling through the myriad of conflicting stories re strut conversions & getting nowhere fast, its time to ask some pointed questions of folk who have actually done the Stanza SSS wheel on 120Y bit. The tyre rubs on the strut, so options are spacer / longer studs with 120Y strut (icky), or different struts (available info is hopelessly confusing). Since longer studs are harder to find than rocking horse droppings or frogs feathers, it seems a strut swap is indicated. Immediate questions (a) are 310 Sunny struts the same length as 210 120Y struts or do they need cutting a la A10 Stanza struts ?? Note there are several views on this (b) Is the 310 Sunny offset such that Stanza SSS wheels clear the strut ?? (no mention of this anywhere) (c) Is the standard 210 120Y brake master cylinder without booster OK with either 210 Sunny or A10 Stanza brakes ?? The 120Y is extensively restored and largely used for showing ... there is no intention of changing the original motor, consequently there doesn't appear there is any case for messing with crossmembers etc. FWIW, I have access to A10 Stanza parts so that may be the most expedient solution if I can find someone capable of doing a professional job of the strut chop thing.

Stanza struts don't need chopping unless lowered, cause their long stroke shocks bottom out. If you have a pre 80 a10 the brakes won't be much better than what you have.
If it's just for show not go, longer studs and spacers. You can even buy 15mm bolt in spacers off Ebay if you need em.

Longer studs would certainly do the job however the only staff I've encountered in Repco in living memory would have trouble distinguishing a wheel stud from a head gasket. Nissan used to be reasonably good for older cars a few years back but lately it seems they have lost interest in any vehicle out of warranty. Bursons might be worth a try though, they have been OK on the few occasions I've gone there. I can't imagine this particular Datto ever seeing the track as its had too much money spent getting it into concourse condition, mind you I can just imagine the madam who owns it wanting another similar one built for zooming around Lakeside or wherever. If that transpires I'll certainly need to mess with engines & struts & so on.

Longer studs are easy to find. Get Nissan part number 40222-15C01 which are 45.5mm long and will fit the 1200/120Y front hub. Supercheap have them too. Ask for 1988 Vanette front studs.
A10 Stanza and B310 Sunny struts do not need shortening/cutting, though many people do to lower the vehicle. Sunny australia is Datsun model series B310. 120Y australia is Datsun model series B210 (Datsun 210 and Datsun 310 are totally different).

for the price (~$30 cheaper than what i was looking for) you'd be snooty to not buy a set
30mm spacers

Hmmmm, most of the suggestions on the web re Stanza struts insist they must be shortened by 43mm, something to do with suspension travel. 'Some' stories even say the same about 310 Sunny struts, no wonder a person gets confused. If I understand correctly, the length issue is only relevant for lowered cars ?? Not to worry, I'll try the leads provided herein for studs & I think I might even have a couple of spacers lurking in my junk collection .. will need to find them in daylight tomorrow to check the thickness. Thanks to all for their comments & advice.

Dunno if I'd want to run 30mm spacers on a car thats just had a few grand worth of paint job. Tyres rubbing on the guards make a bit of a mess :( I believe I might have a couple of 6 or 8mm spacers lurking someplace, that should be sufficient to give a bit of clearance as long as someone has the longer studs in stock.
