Hey dummy A15 uses a longer head bolt.

So after tugging the bottom end out of the car to fix the cam timing I screwed up, I discovered the A15 uses a different / longer head bolt for the oil hole. Sure it's in the tech section but what kind of fool reads directions? I nearly screwed up the threads in the block, the scary part is when I installed the head the first time I actually got the A12 "T" bolt tongue to 51ft lbs. (I had a new set of A12 "13" bolts) On the second go round it did not feel quite right. Sooooooo after looking at the bolts that came out of the A15, I noticed "hey dummy one of these is longer". I'm sure the engine builders cartel will send someone by the house to confiscate my tools.
This of course falls under your not in an A12 any more............. This is what I tell my Ego, being 98% driver it's quite fragile. Tom

Happens to us all, glad you caught it in time. A15 uses the same long center bolt as A12A, A12, and A14. A12 previously used medium or low-torque bolts, later A12s moved to the same chromoly-V '13' hi-torqe bolts that the A15 uses.

My local Nissan stealership told me you can only get the one type of head bolt set, the look I gave them I tell ya.

Yes, all new head bolts are the '13' set. They fit A10,A12,A12A,A13,A14,A15.
The oil bolt for all A-series engines is the center right side (spark plug side). See Head Bolts for photos and diagrams. You can view topic.
