Distributor replacement

OK Listers,
I know someone can help me with this simple question. I have just replaced the dizzy on my A12 (currently sitting in a 1000 ute:) with a newer one from a 81' Sunny. The mounting plate needed swapping over and it fits fine. There is an extra wire connection on the new dizzy which is situated on the vacuum advance. What is it supposed to connect to??? ie the old dizzy did'nt have this 'male' wire connector. Thanks, Sachman

That sounds like an emissions control switch wire ... it's not needed for a 1200. Just leave it disconnected.

look at it and see if it is just a flat spade terminal held on by one of the screws that retain the vacuum advance diaphram.
if so, and I think that's all it is, it is a ground hookup for a noise supressor condenser. you don't need to hook it up to anything.

yes, you're quite right, that is just an earth connection.leaving it disconnected doesn't hurt.can't understand why you didn't get an electronic dizzy off an n12 pulsar & use that, you just change the the bottom slot thingie to the standard gear,& adapt the plate off the old dizzy.no more points,no more condensers, better advance curve.
