Just pricing whether I should buy KYB or KONI rear shocks.
I cannot find the KONI part # in the tech wiki, only KYB. Anyone have this info? Thanks.

KYB is the original factory equipment.
KONI never made a ute shock, and no longer makes the sedan or coupe shocks. Some say the VW konis will fit the ute -- choice of standard or firm.

I'm using rear shocks from a 71 dodge colt , fairly cheap and there are not stiff or too soft , and I didn't have to order

That is interesting. They would be pretty cheap to buy in the US too?

20.79 ea. Might be worth a try but to me they look longer than the 1200 shocks

Hmmmm. Do i spend $130 for a set of KYB shocks to factory ute specifications or spend $40 on a pair of USA dodge colt specials?
The colt shocks are larger uncompressed than stock. Might not work with my 2" reset lowered leaf springs.

factory ute specs will ride the best. The gabriels are valved stiff to compensate for soft-sprung cars. Not good with performance-sprung suspension such as the factory ute.

Last time I fitted Koni shocks to a Ute I used VW Passat Station Wagon rears and they were from memory on the spec sheet damping wise pretty close to what was needed length was OK compressed and extended as well, They worked fine in a Ute fitted with a Z18 Turbo, The only issue was getting the turbo to load up properly (many Gearing changes later including input gears in the box it still needed cement bags in the back, Just not as many)
