Rust Repair

Hi Guys,
I have been browsing videos regarding rust repair using glass fibre filler or Metal Tech. Was wondering if it is ok to use the mentioned for small pin hole repairs or it is advisable to remove the whole sections and patch it with sheet metal? I haven't done any sheet metal welding before and the above seems an easier option however I though of getting some expert advice on this forum before proceeding. Kind regards, Ron.

Fibreglass is OK for small hole.
Either way you go, it is important to cut all the rust out, only put fiberglass to shiny good metal.

The fiberglass repair will only be as good as the adhesion you get. I't important to make sure the metal is clean and rough where the fiberglass is attached. The adhesion also depends on what type of resin you choose, the standard prompted poly-ester doesn't stick as well as say epoxy, but should be fine so long as you get a good clean rough surface for it to grab onto. Something like 60 or 80 grit or even angle grinder wheel finish is how rough you want it.
