Sumith Posted on: 2016/2/13 6:37
Hi Guys

I got my fuel Gauge out of order , Temp Gauge is working but fuel gauge is dead checked the sensor it is working, pulled the wire from sender and grounded gauge doesn't move at all
connections and wiring are good, What would be the reason ?
is it bad gauge ?

thanks

A non-working Fuel gauge is usually one of three things:
* Bad 'sender' (sensor) which is in the fuel tank
* Bad gauge in the dash
* Bad wiring

The good news is that you've already tested without the Sender, by gounding the tank wire. It demonstrates that the Sender is not the problem.

The other good news is that the Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator is working (because the Temp Gauge works)

So it's either the Gauge or the Wiring, all the wires in question are Yellow for both B110 and B210

I would find the Body Harness to Dash Harness connector, pull it apart and test the yellow wire

1. Find dash harness Yellow wire in Dash/Body connector
2. Ground/earth this wire
3. turn IGN switch on and observe gauge:
* Gauge still dead. Check for loose wiring, at back of dash, or at dash wiring harness connectors
* Gauge works, indicates bad connection or damaged body harness wire

Open in new window

Most older Datsun fuel gauge are compatible, maybe even some older Nissan
* Empty mark: 73-88 ohms input
* Full mark: 12 ohms

For aftermarket, see Fuel Gauges 73-ohm

Yes, you can bolt square dash in place of round dash

Hi Guys

Went through Old part stores , Could Not find good condition b210 Dash Cluster , Found b10 or b110 round cluster in good condition but don't know whether it is interchangeable with my dash bolt ? ,
it is like this nipples out the glass

will that be suitable for mine ?

That is a B110 instrument panel (1972 version)

If the only problem is the fuel gauge, just buy a $40 aftermarket gauge?

Hi DD

Yepe i was just thinking Went to hunt for one they have universal type ,they have 15 U$$ upwards, they don't specify exact Ohm Range on them will they work ?
on the manual it has 3 ranges written on it
0-90
100-180
180-280

something like this the guage doesn't specify exactly which ranage it is working,
