#1 63A 5-Speed Mated To A12
OGREInc Posted on: 2016/12/26 1:24
I'm perusing installing a 63A 5-speed onto an A12 engine.
The Tech Wiki, while having a ton of useful swap data, does not seem to address whether the engine plate (sandwiched between the engine & trans on some engine/trans combos)is used in this particular instance. My 63A has the stock A14 throw-out bearing lever, bearing collar and throw-out bearing. My A12 has the stock flywheel. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It's designed to fit an A14, with the thick A14 flywheel. Since the A12 flywheel is thin, it will fit different (the throwout bearing adjustment)

Should use the A12 flywheel without any sandwich plate with that trans then, right?

That's my best guess

63A normally uses Engine Plate + thick flywheel
* 30411-H5001 PLATE-ENGINE REAR B210 A14 USA 0974-

No Plate + thin flywheel I think will be equivalent

Can you not just use the longer throwout bearing carrier?

Yes, a longer release bearing carrier could be found and installed together with an engine plate

The carrier he's got now (stock B210/63A carrier) I think is the best one
