FRONT SEAT SWAP

Hi everyone! Currently in the process of changing out my low back seats in my 1200 sedan. I’d like to put high back bucket seats in (not full on race spec but something that has a fair amount of support in the sides.) If I do find seats suitable, I want to try and make the modification reversible so as I don’t butcher the originality of the car too much. Does anyone have any information or can lend me some ideas on this? Thanks guys

Is there a write up on the wrx seats? I happen to have a set from 2006. I might try and use them for my 1200 ute.

Making aftermarket rails is not that hard but very time consuming. I have fitted aftermarket seats into my 1000. The biggest issue was finding a seat of appropriate width so it does not interfere with the door jamb and b pillar area.
Most seats will have a adjustable rail that is welded or bolted to the base of the seat, this needs to be removed and likely can be thrown away as it won't be even close to datsun size. Measure the distances between seat bolt holes in the car and weld together some flat bar steel into a frame to bolt into the car as your new custom rail. Then the seat can be bolted to this custom rail. I used this r31 guide as a bit of help the first time I had done it. I have done it in two different nissan/datsuns now with good success: https://forum.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?topic=108649.0

I have used a simple quick way with several different kinds of seats
* Unbolt the rails from the new seats * Use the 1200 rails and the 1200 rail bolts (especially the small-round-head bolts). By using the original bolts, it's at least as safe as original 1200 design * Use simple flat plate with four holes drilled (original holes + 1200 rail holes For flat seat with totally flat runners, datsa74 used another method using the new seat's rails (also quick and simple) You can view topic.
