A12 engine

For free is an A12 engine. I left it out in the weather and the cover came off so water has got in to the combustion chamber via spark plug holes. The head should be fine. I'm disgusted with my self because it was a newly reconditioned engine 10 years ago!!!
Anyway it's in Hackett, ACT. It would be great to see it up and running again, when i had it, it would rev smoothly up to 5000rpm and more but i didn't take it beyond that. I miss the old A12s. Justin - 0400285727

Yes ready for turbo up to 127hp with stock head & head gasket, and stock bottom end (stock rods, pistons, etc) -- see sikyne's turbo A12
But with water in the cylinders for some years, maybe this one isn't ready for it. But it may clean up and at least some parts will be useful

bore and hone for a14 turbo pistons, e85 can handle surely 150hp
If tune is good double hp possible & will have better tq than sr20

No need for turbo pistons. The stock A12 pistons can handle 160hp. Sikyne did that with stock H89 cylinder head and stock A12 bottom end
The key in making it last is control. See Safely Turboing the A12

Hey DD...is there much difference between early and late A12 engine other than the oil pan and where dizzy lines up? Bores look to be the same with the exception of A12A engine. Advantages of one over the other? Any limitations with cylinder heads? I have early A12, with stock pistons, sitting on garage floor collecting dust.

dont know how "turbo" got in front of pistons!
but meant using 75mm pistons would make sure that rusty bores are fixed after 2mm bore and honing

Sitting doing nothing turned on this site in godknows how long and see reference to Simons A12 turbo.
I can confirm the humble stock A12 can handle some fair numbers. Mine came back from dyno 2 weeks ago with a re tune and more boost turning 161rwh on e85 jungle juice, been running 115rwh for the last 2 years on e85 without issues, well now see what happens on track
