mikali Posted on: 2003/4/7 5:05
hey fellaz me and my mate are interested in hillclimbing, im doing up another 1200 coupe after i finish uni. I was just wondering if there are any websites with information about hillclimbing and the classes of cars etc with rules/regulations. How expensive is it to do? and is it an all year thing or whenever u want to go?

thanks boys.

NSW have heaps of hillclimb venues - it's not fair! We've only got Mt Cotton and the once-a-year Noosa Hillclimb. They are both pretty special peices of road though.

To get all the rules for each class, you'll need to get a CAMS manual. Best thing to do first is get in touch with one of the clubs that runs the climbs in NSW. Some of the other guys might be able to help there. The only one I know of is the Bathurst Light Car Club who run the Bathurst Speed Weekend - thinking of getting along to that one. Have a look at the CAMS website as well - they have a list of clubs and stuff.

Hilclimbing is great value motorsport. Here in Brisbane a multi-club hillclimb costs $66 and we normally get about 5 runs.

How do you go about starting a venue???

Would you have to apply to the council as to what is required and search for a property with those conditions???

utes (any commercial vehicles) are not technically eligible for most CAMS classes. But you probably won't have any dramas entering a multi-club event. I think you might have some dramas at NSW Hillclimb Championship rounds though.

yikes, i couldnt control a coupe with a sweet motor let alone a ute:P it would be fun though.

nah im leaning towards either working an a14 s/c for my next coupe or ca18det. either way im aiming at 120 kw at the treads. prob spend a house on the a14c eh for that figure:P ah well all in good fun.
