Quarter windows?

While reading the post about window rubbers, I had a thought. I remember that there used to be a kit to delete the little swing out vent windows in old Volkswagen Beetles. It replaced the whole side window with a solid piece of glass. Has anyone ever seen this done on a Datsun? I personally wouldn't want it unless the car had air conditioning, but it might be a "kool kustom" look. Thoughts?

Ahhh I remember the Cal look VWs well...I had a grey primer Baja Bug when I was 18. Most race cars down here replace the side glass with perspex or Lexan and it cleans up the side profile. I chopped the whole window frame off my race car doors and capped the holes. It does'nt need windows they are just weight!! While I was at it I removed the door handles inside and out and used the door lock push at the end of the door to open it. More weight saving.

I thought about it..enquired about glass costs..quickly forgot about it..and the 1/4 windows are handy in summer...cheap A/C.
I think that's why the 510s look mean..no 1/4 window.. Ah well, Chris

TheGyver (who was selling the 2-dr sedan with the plastic back window) was telling me about plexiglas/lexan windows. Apparently you use a heat gun to put any required curvature in it. This might work for the door glass.
