My diff is on the verge of spontaneous combustion,
whats a good hardy diff to go into a 1000, keeping in mind its got A14 running gear? I've heard the 120y is not bad... Anything that would fit with no problems cheap is good, LSD would be nice but pretty expensive yeah??? remember....theres no point being a pro if there is no stupid people to ask you questions, that where i come in thanks -Cal

the 120y sedan diff is all right it's a borg warner and bigger than the coupe which is a japanese one. the h145 might fit i hear they are good but fitting wouold be better for someone else im not too sure check out the tech section under diffs that would probably steer you in the right direction for a start.

If I ever end up replacing the diff again in my car I am gonna go for a 120Y wagon diff... 4.11 instead of 3.9

hey stupid!
I got a great secret to share with 1000 lovers and thats that you can use a diff from another datsun with an alloy housing carrier 4.1 ratio and you can fit 240-160z alloy drums on it to lighten the whole thing to the same weight as the 1000 h145 alloy carrier one. This took me a while to work out as I thought it was originally a h190. However its a h165 centre and housing with 1000 axles and bigger drums!!!! Used on the 411 60s bluebirds. Good luck finding one but you should try cause everything bolts straight up. Brake cable and brackets are identical. Its a beauty rita. Oh and its the same length or width end to end!!!!!!

Hey D,
Are all 411's H165, do you know? What about a B120 ute diff..is that the same width as a Datto 1000 one or is it wider?

The b120 ute diff?? sorry im stupid here!
the 411 blueys are all 4.11 except the wagon is 4.44 and they are the same width as the 1000. The b120 1200 ute? yes that is wider than the 1000s.Lowering is by resetting the leafs on the front and putting an extra one at back. The front leaf bushes will also need grinding down to get more clearance and suspension movement.

Ah right. Forgot that utes are common there for a moment. B120s and 411's weren't sold here but I have one of each. Amazing that the 411 diff is the same width as a 1000. The car is so much bigger!
