A less-tall tire would make it feel torquier.

So would the original four-speed, which has a much shorter 1st gear than the 5-speeds.

Forced induction would help (turbo or supercharger).

Other than that, there's not much that can be done. The A12 factory setup was designed for mid-range HP. Add a bigger carb or oval port heads doesn't help with low-speed HP (aka torque).

if you need a project you could try installing water injection, im not that keen on it myself mut a mate of mine set it up in his ####ted honda civic and it now does 3rd gear burnouts and torque steers like mad. they used it in formula 1 in the 70s with good results so i guess it cant be to bad.

yes water injection. the cheep way to do it is run a hose to either the inlet manafold or secondary ventury. the carb will create enough suction to pull water in which will mix with the fuel and air and once ignited will create steam = torque. this will make your engine run cooler and you can advance the timing by up to 10 degrees. the only down sides are it rusts your exhorst out real quick. still it will give you a ####e load more power. If anones interested ill try to get hold of the info and test results and setup plains and scan them on for you, my mate has all the info youll need.
