have never tried.... but remembering the struts in the r31 i used to have i would say that the spring and perch would be to wide for a 1200.... would probably foul on the inner guard when turning......

yeh its way too wide for the body (b310),it's a 170? diameter spring, was looking at adjustable seats and probably run my current spring off my stanza struts.or maybe a set of 60mm springs

the main problem with the r31 strut is that the hole in the base of the strut that locates it onto the steering arm is a different diameter to anything else,ie stanza.the way around this is to weld up the hole & machine it to fit.this is a job for an experienced welder & machinist.you have to change the springs to smaller diameter,& probably do a height adjustment conversion at the same time.the good news is these struts are the shortest bodies,& they have 10 inch ventilated discs standard,& it seems bigger discs will bolt on.this last bit is something you'd have to confirm with someone like errol (feral),however.you also have to start running front wheel drive offset wheels,or at least later model wheels.you can then go to r31 rear discs, which is what i'm looking at at the moment.only problem i can see is how to hook the hand brake up.

The hole for the steering arm flange can be filled up with a welded in spacer ring as B310GX suggested. The bolt holes are the same.
Bigger discs can be fitted using different hubs. The biggest problem is with the offset distance of the caliper mounts in relation to the hub back bearing and seal. This makes it easier to use other struts and shorten them rather than the R31 strut. They are OK if you are going to use the stock disc/caliper and put on adjustable paltforms with 60 ID springs

thanks for the info guys
yeh I was basicly weighing up what would be easier/better optoin , fit R31 or modify my stanza(shorten the tubes to fit R31 shocks, and fit decent brakes).
Are 200b(ucket)struts a better starting piont than stanza??for a good front end.
cheers
