suk through turbo

i am planning a suk through turbo package for an a15. i have a few questions though as i have previously never been able to get a setup running well in the way of cold running, throttle responce once its been idling for a while etc. they do make plenty of power from experience though. in previous attempts i have desighned the setup so ther is very few spots for fuel to puddle up other than the compressor. my question to all the guys running draw through kits is can u guys get them to be resonably drivable without stuttering and how can u manage soo much boost without any real form of cooling. eg ive heard claims of up to 25psi being used. any help would be greatly appreciated as i want this to work this time. i no it can be done because a mates factory sigma turbo is like a dream to drive.

And another question in that regard do you need to drop the compression on a std a14 for the turbo conversion ?

depends on how much boost (psi) u wanna run
whats standard A14 comp? 9.5 or 9.0

Yeah but most people who've run 25 PSI usually have blown something most of the time pistons, If you strengthened the internals you could hold a fair bit of pressure. But if your gonna run alot of boost then I'd reduce your compression, as high compression (too high) causes detonation and we all know what that does

if u build up a strongenough motor u could hold up 2 18 psi..
idea of turboeing something like a a15 would be awsome but make sure u do it properly and it will perform.. get a set of forged pistons lower the compression get a custom inlet with a t25 or t28 turbo and im sure u would be happy with the performance...

If you build a strong enough engine you can handle alot more boost then 18psi :) i havent looked at the a15 block but that would be one of next things upgrading after you got forged pistons rods and crank. Heat coat the valves and pistons aswell should help from blowing up :) Maybe some differnt rockers dont know how happy id be with stock rocker gear at 7,000rpm full boost :)

iv got an a15 draw through setup on my 1000 wagon i tend to put up with the low throttle response in favor of perfomance. iv run 25 psi (low boost) and 30+psi (high boost) for about three years now with no detonation i run a fairly rich mixture and water meth above 20 psi. and she still runs sweet.

datsonovic im very impressed with your setup. what turbo are you running and wats it off. what rpm does it come on boost? how can it handle 30psi without the turbines shearing off? i think your setup is setup very neatly with the turbo mounted so close to the inlet manifold it should run well. very quick car i bet. Any idea how much grunt she makes? i was also wondering how strong stock a15 pistons are , anyone know from experience if they can hold around one bar. also a question for everyone how much power are you guys getting from your setups?sorry for all the questions but im very interested in this. thanks for your input

i bought my datto as is but i can tell you the guy i bought the car off told me that the pistons are stock items, she comes on boost at about 2500-3000 rpm, i havent put it on the dyno yet but im hoping to soon ( iv just found a friendly dyno operator in tassie!) i put my 240 on a couple of months ago but i dont know 1000 will handle it? (when it comes on boost).
