Fuel pump
Demojob

My prepump don't work, i bought it second hand so no warrenty. Anyway i connected it up directly to the battery so I could prime the fuel lines and surge tank. When I connect the terminals to teh battery for just the pump, the terminal spark when I connect them (only very small spark) just that the pump does nothing. So the spark says that it's getting power, so has the pump worn out??? I pulled it apart and it was covered in this foam (looked like selley's space invader stuff) so I didn't want to break all that off, any ideas on what to try??? or is it beyond repair and cheaper to get a new one.
Its a fuel pump out of a Mazda 626. Bloody mazda's!!!!! Thanks for any help Damo

you are right the little spark ( blue ) means the fields are energising, but the armature is siezed. usually the wreckers run the pumps dry when they drain the tanks, this causes them to heat up and sieze. it could even be the pump has sucked up some dirt and this has jamed the pumps fan blades.
Sometimes reversing the polarity of the connections will make the pump spit this dirt back out. At the end of the day the pump has show you it can stop for no reason, unless you like breaking down or making you engine lean out, its worth it just to replace the pump You can view topic.
