sum1 advertised 2 subrubs away a ca18det datsun 1200 ute for $10k un engineered 11 months rego trx diff from bluebird i think it was r31or 30 front discs rebuilt fornt end (forgot wat from) 200sx front mount
sounded interesting i think i will drive/buy a ca18det datto ute b4 i go and do the v6 conversion coz if the hype about the ca18 turbo's is ok i will keep it and not worry about the v6... but still the VG30 would be gr8 and a rarety lol im not worried about handling since when does anyone race round corners on street roads? i will go the runs but never race corners on the street, tricked out suspension should sit the car ok with traction but i will see in time

OI Woodydat, I'd say from some of dodgemans posts, that he's forgotten more about cars than you'll ever know. Im sure that as problems arise for you, he'll have some insightfull info that you will be able to use.A think that holeshot's signature is spot on. Im not an old fart myself (yet) but they often have some worthwhile things to say.
Respect your elders and betters boy!

One day he will wake up to himself, keep it A blocked. Not to many roads are straight and flat as LAKE AYRE in AU,there is more bends in the road than you think and IDIOTS like you coming from the left or right of you at the next crossroads.Maybe your MUM and DAD are coming around the next blind cornner, dont go to wide around the bend due to speed and sher weight of the block.Keep it lite, stay with the A block.

Welcome to the real world. By your own admission, you were doing it. You knew about the double points, you know that the "P" plate is a cop magnet. It doesn't matter how unfair it is, you did the crime, you sit out the time, life's a bitch. Try to be philisophical. For every time you get pinged, how many times did you get away with it. For most of us, the ratio is thousands to 1. Next time, pay more attention to your mirrors, & your speedo, & good luck. For what it's worth, i got pinged 25 years ago coming downhill into a country town at 5:15am one monday. It was for 68 in a 60. No other living thing was stiring at that hour. They were bored. Just cop it sweet & move on.

i take it you're replacing 'turbo' power with displacement torque yeah?
what about these engines? all are a proven engineered combo into a 1200. 12A turbo CA18DET grumpy SR20DE/T VG20DET VG30DE or if you're a bit of a frankenstein builder, what about the 7AF toyota bottom end (1.8L) with a 20V 4AG head. they are the same engine but one is 1.6 and one is 1.8 (like the L16 and L18). the only mod needed is to machine the tensioner pulley 2.0mm in diameter to make the timing belt fit. then you'd have a rev-happy 1.8L with 5 valves per cylinder and quad throttles. mmmm...twin cam bark..... if you want to get something big cube though, none of this will help. why not look at the toyota century 3.4L 'mini-hemi' all alloy pushrod V8? they're lighter than an SR20DET....and take a supra 5spd with a dellow bellhousing. the VG30DE would be a good conversion too. what about the 1MZFE? no, not the 1UZFE, the 1MZFE. the 3.0L V6 out of the 97-98 camry's...basically a 1UZFE with 2 cylinders cut off. HSV killers. with a sump mod (or not...?) to convert from east west to north south and another dellow bellhousing for the supra 5spd, it would be economical, light and VERY powerful for a 1200.
