I have used a standard 120Y speedo cable on mine. It bolts straight up without any mods. They are $5-$10 from the wreckers or $70 brand new from Nissan.

I have used a 3.75" Speco tacho in the standard clock binnacle. It fits in there almost perfectly. The tacho comes with or without an internal shift light and costs about $160 from any auto parts store. As an accidental bonus it matches the factory dash lights too so it doesn't look out of place. Kevin Rowley installed it for me by bolting it to the metal frame at the base of the dash and I ran a bead of silicone around it to keep it in place. Let me know if you want a product number or anything.

i actually ran a new speedo in my ute as i was told by the auto sparky that the MAFM wont work with out electric speedo..
and will make car run like poo.

Thanks Chris for the info, it gives me something to go ahead with, I can't believe how annoying it is not having a tacho and speedo!

Vaz, the car is sitting on the driveway at the moment and I am going to post it up this week and put it in the Canberra times. I was away on a team building exercise on the weekend so I didn't put it in.

I like the all round gauge setup as well, I am going to get rid of the big ass autometer gauge and get something a little simpler!

1. Electric pickup can be used with the Electric Speedos on the Market (~AU$380). Or you can pay $10 at the wreckers, and get a mechanical speedo drive from a skyline, and use a S2 Bluebird speedo cable (Take your 1200 cable to the wreckers, you'll find the bluebird one has the same ends, but is a foot longer)

2. Tacho, you have 2 choices,
a. use the tacho out from the standard ECU (Yellow with red trace (pin7 on ECU))
b. Splice the 1200 tacho inline with the 12V feed to the coils. The 1200 Tacho is an inductive loop, and the only thing that can fail is the old spade connectors. You might want to replace them on the tacho to ensure reliable connections. If the tacho connection fall apart, you'll lose ignition.

I haven't got a clue about the speedo, but a good tacho can be got from a 1200 coupe dash - it fits right where the clock is in my 1200 dash (I've got all round guages).

PS. did you get rid of the 'spitfre blue' yet?

Hi All,
I have recently picked up a 1200 ute with a CA18DET and the s13 gearbox. It has a 3.9 diff and 17" wheels.

My questions are: ( and I did do a search for the info)
1. What speedo would I be able to use? Using either the electric pickup on the gearbox or the mechanical pickup (did not work when I bought the car).

2. What tacho would I be able to use, it currently has a 5" gauge that I want to get rid of (did not work when I bought the car).
