If your flanges are all nice and flat, you shouldnt really need goo. I've made all my gaskets out of some stuff called nebar. Its a bit like cork gasket material but way more hardcore. (chemically resistant) so I wont be needing goo on those , ind I think the stuff on a manifold gasket(onto the head) should be suffeicent for sealing.
But no doubt someone else will disagree. Also , god willing i will finally begin to fit my s/c tommorow.

i only use CAT blue gasket compound, never any of this repco budget gasket kit sh1t.
CAT use the stuff for replacement head gaskets (instead of the gasket) on their turbo diesel V16 power generators. if it's good enuf for that, it's good enuf for an inlet manifold gasket / carb gasket etc.

Hi Salty, number of things made the damn thing run like a hairy goat.
First, a bent needle in the SU. The needle bent just a tiny little bit (like a few thou') and was scoring on the main jet. Second, a small air leak through the inlet manifold gasket. After some thought, I did remember that it looked a little dodgy when I put it on and thought that it would need replacing at some stage....seems sooner rather than later now. I am putting a new one in tomorrow Then... torture some rear tyres hey just another thing, anyone have any thoughts on gasket goo? i don't use it generally and wonder if i should...??

good point B120dat, hadn't thought of that- will drain the tank and see how I go with new fuel...
my last 1200 coupe had a similar problem with old fuel from a jerry can- new fuel and all back to normal.

could be as simple as bad batch of fuel. as #### fuel can do wierd and wonderful things
usally effects idling, as i have noticed on crappy fuel. how long has this happened? did it start when near empty or when you filled up last? just try a nice new full tank of premium and see if does anything. my webbers were idling real bad and running poor at one stage, i thought they needed tuning, but after a another tank full they ran fine.

thanks lads, I will pull the carby off tomorrow and strip it and wash everything thoroughly.
when I think about it, the bloody thing started happening after a particularly hard run up a long, steep hill... some crap may have gone through the fuel filter and is lodged under the needle or something- will let you all know anyway...

i think it might be the carby pull ur carby apart and wash every thing with petty in an old ice cream container. chek the needle and seat, chek all valves and crap. it sounds like theres a bit of #### in the neeedle, have a look and tell us how u go, that should getr u outa trouble.
