I agree B120dat wholeheartedly !!
The only pitfall is carbies in poor condition. Worn shaft bearings especially will allow them to suck air and create havoc so try to carbs you have heard running or know the history of. Once my 45's are set, they just keep on running fine. The secret is NOT TO PLAY WITH THEM ! Too many people have no idea but play anyway. get a reputable place to set them up and just enjoy them. Anyone that gives advice starting with "my mate reckons ..." should be avoided !! Good luck ... the sound of angry Webers is worth it !

i have not touched mine sinice i put them in 4months ago... the benefits you get from them out way the negatives by far!
just put em on then, then put car on Dyno get the desired tune you want then drive off. now wurries any carbs you put are gonna need fiddling with over time. the guys you see fiddling at the drags are proably, changeing tubes or chokes, maybe fiddling with thier idles/mixtures. but thats only because the want the optimal tune or power they can get for that 400m. for street no wurries. Go webers mate, you wont regret it

Hi all.
this question goes out to all of you that have 40 sidedraft webers on your datsuns. A buddy of mine has a A14 utility that he wants to perc up a bit. He got hold of a GX head completely stock and also can get now a pair of 40 sidedraft webers. I told him that I will ask on the website first before he continues to buy them. Lets put it this way. All the work he is going to do at a respectable workshop as he does not know much about engines and stuff. My questions is: How much trouble are sidedraft webers. Here at our local dragracing alot of people are using these carbs with alot of backfiring and missing and bonnets constantly open to fiddle with the carbs or something. This includes a A15 nissan and a 1600cc ford escort. My buddy does'nt want to put them on and then constantly needs to fiddle with them as this is the idea I got from sidedraft webers.Meaning " Your hands will always be dirty". Is it really a pain or can you tune them on a dyno and not worry much about them like SU's. Thanks. You can view topic.
