Andrew,

Ive got mine mounted to the horizontal bar between the rear arms. Interesting to see the slight differences in cages between L18's and mine. My rear arms are welded to the floor inbetween the wheel arches. I love how clean that interior is, mine is white too but it needs a lick of paint, would love to have it looking like L18's but its just going to get dust and crap all over it!

Cheers,
Simon

I just saw the pics. looks good mate.

My seat belt mount is on a horizontal bar in the main hoop.

CAMS recommend to keep the belts as short as possible, but the rear stays aren't exactly a long way back.

The diagonal brace is in the main hoop. Ive welded both the front legs to the A pillar and hoop to the B pillars Ill even do the bottom of front legs to kick panels and anywhere else I think will tie it in. Where abouts is your seatbelt bar?? is it in the main hoop or between the rear arms?? Im thinking rear arms.

That cage sounds very similar to the one my mate put in his rally 120Y. His is made out of cold drawn seamles steel. He has the diagonal and the straight bar for the fixing point for the harnesses both on the main hoop. His is all camms approved. Be carefull with the welds though, my mate had to get the whole thing checked out before it was approved, some of the welds wern't good enough (i.e. The weld wasn't hot enough to penetrate the metal properly to make a strong bond) so some had to be re done. It had the side bars as well, makes it hard to get in and out. It cost him about $1300-$1400 all up i think.

sounds good Andrew. Where's the diagonal in the Bond cage - in the main hoop or between the rear stays?

Can you tie-in the cage to the body of in other places as well, like the front legs of the cage to the A pillars and the kick panels, top of the main hoop to the B pillars or channels along the inside of the roof?

Good to hear you started welding it in.

I dropped the dash in with my dad. He'll drop it off one day this week. I told him not to drop it off until we get a quote etc. Andrew can you give them a buzz to get a quote, and my old man can drop it in for you.

I made it up to past Kurrajong, until some young fella smashed up the back of my Pulsar while I was sitting in traffic at about 5.30pm..what a bugger. I dropped into my dads and I had to attach a chain to the hatch lock to pull it out enough so I can lock it.

I'll spend the rest of the week chasing up quotes. Good thing the badges on the hatch needed replacing from sun damage.

There's my update.

Chris

ps. Thanks for a relaxing weekend.

Legal issues?? I already have mine engineer approved with a 6 point cage. The new cage I got from Bond roll bars in sydney its cams and FIA aproved .The materials where not that $$$ Just over $700 the biggest job is getting it all to fit nice an neat and in the right position. Its much the same as my old cage
6 point expect it has side intrusion door bars a bar at rear tying in teh rear wheel arches and a set belt bar for teh harnesses to connect to They also gave me another nength to do any extra stuff I migth want to do I migth triangulate the main hoop to strengthen it a bit.
cheers Andrew

as there isnt much work involved with the ute its a pritty cheap mod and wont have 2 worry about it later on down the track when times drop into 11's

sounds good!

what material are you using for the cage and how much did it cost roughly, what design are you using for the cage (ie. how many point?) and how much do you think it will cost all up

also do u need an engineer to approve the job or anything like that to satisfy racing regulations

cheers mate, im looking at my options for a cage at the moment
