Problem. The Z20 is EFI but doesn't have the loom. As a short term fix for this I was thinking about bolting on the L18 head to the Z20 block. Your thoughts please... I can get this motor REAL cheap, and I gotta rush to get this car back on the road for short term till I find somewhere else to finish it.

Yeah, when I do the install I'll be using the header you see there, but with the Z20E factory EFI bits and a custom intake manifold.

If you can get the EFI version with computer and loom (Z20E) its the way to go.
They start so easy and give good torquey power all the way up to 6000 with a set of extractors and good exhaust. You can make them run higher with a bit of head work.

Sounds good to me. Dont get the Ka-series motors in NZ except in FF format. Not to interested in putting in the work to mske one RWD.

The Z20E is a great conversion and gives a stock 69 Rear Wheel Kw's.
Reliable as an L series and the head can be made to breathe well in N/A form.

yeah like i sadi, not my experience, just what i was told.
it would more than likely make more power in modified form than an L20. but if you're looking at something different, i'd go the KA24DE.

The only person on here I've seen do the conversion is dimlight65 (the car is called the ChickenHawk). And he was VERY happy with the result. Driving that car was unbelievable. That engine/trans (Z20E/5spd) will soon be in my 1200 Coupe and the ChickenHawk will get a 3.3 V6. Anyone else on here actually done the swap?

In stock form, I think it is slightly better than an L20B (?).
For in-depth info about putting one into a 1200, search for "chickenhawk". You can view topic.
