Harry, Harry..........Mate I think that you have some issues with what others think. If they dont think like you do then you think that they are wrong.

Everyone has there own thoughts and I do think that the way you have written your posts have pi$$ed a few off, just like this probably will to.

I think that if it has a motor and you use it(driving and the like not show n shine) then its also a sport. So its motorsport. Its just a general definition, so it covers a hell of a lot of forms, ie you race and some rally, then others drift, but you will not change my mind its all motorsport. I think that you know a hell of a lot about cars etc, but please down put others down, just because they think differently to you.

But keep up the great work you have done on your datsun as it looks and works wonderfully well.

about the argument of motorsport and drifting and that, i dont care anymore.
i just want a fast datsun,

well i dont see any part of the word "motorsport" mean the same as speed or fastest, i only see "motor" which i think means motorised and i see "sport" which i think stand for game/competition. yet no part of the word refers to speed or time. there are millions of "unmotorised" sports which are not racing or to do with goin fastest. so who is to say that motorsports must be some kind of timed, fastest or racing event?

I dunno Chris, if you can fit an A14 crank in an A12 block, then surely you could shoehorn a V10 into the 1000!

I'm not trying to criticise anyone. If you're into drifting - fine, go and do it. Just like burnout competitions. Not my cup of tea, but if you like it, go for it. I think going sideways is fun too, but when the whole objective of your pastime involves going sideways for the sake of going sideways, its no longer motorsport. Just a safe, legal place to fang around with the tail out. Does it take skill? Sure. And its evolved into a form of competition, but not motorsport in the true sense of the word. Motorsport is invariably about being the fastest (or finishing first) over whatever the course is.

i agree it isnt motorsport because the cars arent moving and the motor doesnt need to be turned on, its all about craftman ship and creativity and effort that goes into making a good looking car, it has nothing to do with the performance of the car,

and also i dont care whether you think drifting and freestyle motorcross and any other so called "gymnastic" events are not classed as motorsport. i just like cars, especially datsuns, and i think goin sideways is fun, also racing normally is fun but i dont have the money to do everythin, stop critizing everyone who doesnt do the same "motorsport" as you, just because you like sumthing doesnt mean the rest of the world has to.

as long as you're happy to make burnout comps 'motorsport' too

even show'n'shines have cars with motors competing against each other. doesn't make it motorsport.

some of those night runs/ touring assemblies/ nav runs or whatever else you want to call them have a skill test to decide a winner in event of a tie. They set up a pole standing up in a parking lot, and the competitors drive up to it and stop as close as possible without hitting it. It's a test of skill, a driving competition between motor vehicles, but it sure as hell ain't motorsport.

As for freestyle motorcross, that's just gymnastics too; the motorbike is merely the apparatus and is purely incidental to what they're actually doing. Guys do exactly the same things on pushbikes. Maybe that's motorsport as well?
