evilsim basically you need a mounting plate that suits your block. Then you simply have to modify it in a similar fashion to the one pictured, so as to provide a mounting attachment for the e15 dissy so that correct timing can be obtained without any parts of the dissy fouling on the engine.

Quote: Early 1200 A series will require a different but similar modified mounting plate. any idea what this would look like ? I am in this situation with my A12 until i put my A15 in. The mounting plate i have from my A15 isn't the same as the one shown in your picture either..

Well what do you know it works!!!!!!
Black wire with white trace to coil positive,Blue wire to coil negative and an earth from the tag near the vac advance. I must have been spot on with TDC when I removed the old dissy as it started first time...(such a good feeling!!) I'm still not sure what to do with the Black wire that was connected to the original dissy, but seems to run ok with it unconnected.... Will post some more pics in my album of completed setup...

The black wire goes to coil positive, the other wire goes to coil negative. You also have to run a wire from near the vacum advance unit to earth.
I know for fact that a photo exists on this website showing the wiring I have just described. If mt expanation is not sufficient, maybe you should search for the photo.

Is it possible to find a donor type car in a wreckers?
I ask for two reasons. Firstly, it may help to answer your question if you can see one still assembled,.. & secondly, I know that the series 2 Bluebirds used a special coil that would handle the higher voltage &/or higher current flow, & it's likely that the same applies to the E series of engines. These coils are often marked so that the special slot that vents the overheated filler [tar?] in a faulty coil is pointing away from some poor unsuspecting soul. The donor vehicle would provide that answer too, & if necessary, it could provide the correct coil for your car. From memory, the two wires go on the two terminals of the coil, but you would best advised to get the polarity right, & once again, a donor car could provide that info as well. If i had a workshop manual i could be more helpfull, but i don't i'm sorry

Ok guys, I need the help of an auto sparky or the like..
My e15 dissy is ready to go but i'm unsure as to wiring...I have done all the modifications to mount the thing but need some power!!!!! There are two wires from the dissy that need to go somewhere? ??? .Do I remove the ballast resistor and run + - from the coil (GT40) or is it more complicated??

What he means isthat you will have to use one suited to your engine, Remember that the dizzy position changed from the 110 to the B210. With this changed the dizzy mounting plate.

Thanks phunk,I was aware of the change needed with the drive gear..
Do I absolutely have to use the 120y plate or can i just modify my current one???? My ute is a 1976 model, the plate has screw holes on either end with timing marks on the side... Do you have any ideas about wiring this up?? (Is it you who is the Auto Sparky??) I hope i'm not asking stupid questions!!!! You can view topic.
