hey has any one got one of these glass bonnets over here yet .Also is this original gx design or has it been slightly modified i dont know my 1200 that well when it comes to bonnets.......why i ask is i work in fibreglass , what they call a plug would only take a weekend to knock up and a couple bucks then a mould cold be made off this and presto a gx bonnet is born ,,,shit yeah i could get on the chopper gun at work and lay up one bonnet aday thats 300 odd bonnets a year ........NOW THE DOWN SIDE I basically need a bonnet to make my plug and get a start please help with bonnet dont expect afree one even a cheep damged one would be a start.

Yes Andy carbon ones are better but finding a gx bonnet is not easy for everyone.

I always thought that the bonnet and guards on the 1200s and 1000s were so light that fibreglass panels seemed unnecessary.

Sorry on holiday and this is my last 3 hours in Okinawa.!
This bonnet is on Auction and the seller looks to be the maker of it so it would be a matter of contacting him on his mail if there is one on the link.
I strongly recommend it as I havent seen this quality before even though looking at photos. Ive seen other bonnets in FRP but clip on type only.
This is my last post till I get back to Melb.

carbon fiber can be molded in exactly the same way as fiber glass. Heating is only used when using epoxy resin, but is not needed in a temperate climate but is helpful. vacuumpacking is also helpful but not needed unless the curves of the product are to sharp to push the cloth and resin matris into. when making front guards and bonnets you would not need vaccume bags but it could help.

You can get GX bonnets in NZ, I have one. Theyre just very hard to find. Im thinking of making a few fglass molds if any one in NZ is interested. Hey on that note, does snyone know whats involved in carbonfiber molds? dont you have to vacuumpack it and heat it?
