What did you actually do when you 'cleaned out the carb'? Did you buy a new gasket /overhaul kit, then remove & strip the carb? Did you clean it in the prescribed manner then reassemble it all & check all the various settings as per the book? Have you replaced the fuel filter? For the price, it's often a good idea to replace it at the first sign of a fuel related problem. If everything else is on the money [points, timing, plugs & tappets] then giving the carb a minor overhaul will usually fix everything.

By the way there's one of these solenoids on ebay right now cheap. Nissan want I can't remember something like $60 or $70 bucks for one and I haven't found an auto parts store that carries or can get one. Not a bad investment if you plan to stick with the stock carb.
ebay auction and another one: here

ahh i know the thing, thanks dude. if this matters the only way to fix it after it dies and is unsable to rev is to ride the clutch alot and rev the #### out of it, seems to clear it.

If you take the air cleaner off there should be a big long nut/bolt thing that has a wire going into it think it takes a 17mm spanner or maybe 19mm
