Thanks for the posts guys. It's taken me a while to respond because for some reason I cannot log in to this web site from home. My username is invalid.
Anyway, I searched the wreckers in Brisbane last week and found several N12 distributors. Paid $55 for one with a good vacuum advance. Looks like an easy conversion to put it into an A12. If I get enthusiastic I'll take some pics of the process and post them. Barry

not really, it depends on how long you want to wait, least expensive is $20.00 and about 6 to 8 week wait. last I checked 1 to 2 week was under $50. overnight would cost about $100, and even that wouldn't get there overnight because of customs.
the one I sent to 1200 rallycar took 7 weeks on a slowboat and cost me $21.00

The conversion is a simple bolt in and a wiring modification.
there are lots of them here, I have 1 that is for sale/trade and can aquire more.
anyone wanting one needs to make an offer that will cover the cost of shipping and the time to go get them one along with the cost of the actual unit.
With it, I will include a copy of the factory manuel pages applicable to the dizzy and a wiring diagram, along with a parts list of factory part numbers. this is the real thing that everyone there seems to want, I'm willing to accomidate you if your willing to compensate me.
BTW, IF you have any questions about whether or not I'm serious, ask 1200rallycar dizzy pic

You are right HYBR3D, you can make some modifications and make your own affordable electronic ignition.--I took the insides out of a toyota tercel distributor one time and tack welded the plate inside a NISSAN dist. and run the wires out into a chevy ignition module mounted outside the dist.--and it worked!!!!!

I was on the same mission, and was talking to a14force last night, and he said the A series electronic dizzys are very very very hard to find (and i quote "they are like rocking-horse ####"). HOWEVER, he mentioned that an electronic dizzy out of an E15 engine (pulsar) fits with a couple of modifications
And also, apparently 'dick smith electronics' (in NZ) supplies something called a "high energy ignition kit" which turns a points dizzy into electronic somehow (cost around $NZ70)....hope this helps.

I have read ddgonzal's article in the tech section about this conversion and it seems to be the way to go. Can any Australian members please tell me what Australian models I should be looking for to get one of these distributors. Barry.
