Hey all....still a bit stuck after some penetrating spray, and a bit of belting.
Crank is off, you can see here: Block n pistons More of the process to get to here has been documented too...just for the hell of it. The engine strip down I'm going to get some wet n dry sandpaper and try and get rid of a bit more of the rust that way...then see where I stand. Appreciate the help.

Turn the block upsidedown drop some dryice into th skirt cup it may help shrink the piston enogh to delodge it after a good soaking in crc or wd 40

take the crank out.
beat the sh1t out of the piston with a rubber mallet. and for god's sake, if you don't have one - don't hit it with a normal hammer. use a block of wood or whatever. :edit: oops - i just saw b310gx's post. sorry...

i agree, let the bores soak in penetrating oil
overnight.when you go to remove the pistons, turn the block upside down & tap the pistons out with the handle of a hammer.that is,hold the head of the hammer(lots of h's in there),in your hand, then tap down.if the pistons dont come out easily, get a piece of wood & put it on the piston, then hit the piece of wood.don't ever hit the piston directly with the hammer head, even if you're not planning to reuse the pistons.

hay ther mate..
a hone probly wont help u mutch coz u will hit the pistons and mybe damage the hone depending on wat type u get.. i recon first try spraying all the bores with WD40 or sun sort of penetrating lube 2 brake down the rust.. spray it and maybe even leave it over nite and try the next day...and just make shor as u push them up from the bottom the rod duzn get stuck.. suntime u have 2 tap the pistons up with a dolly or soft hammer...

Hey all,
I've been stripping down an A12, to then put back together again - all as a learning process. Now I've come this far I'm considering rebirthing it. New gaskets, clean up all the old parts.... The probelm is the cylinder bore is a bit rusty and the pistons are not keen to come out of the block. I thinking of buying an engine cylinder hone today to rip out all the rust....what I'm wondering - is there a better way to get these pistons out? You can view topic.
