When I bought my sedan, the previous owner told me he had the tailshaft modified to take replacable uni's. I don't know how much this cost but it could be a good option.

much less!!!
it cost me $220 to have a full custom shaft made i'd say 45 for the new uni plus maybe an hours work so approx $100 or just under

Its years since I have had one done, but if I had to take a wild guess I would say $180 with balancing, but it might be much less.

Take it to a tailshaft place and they will machine it out for you and put a new one in.

what model? i think after a certian year they are made to stay there. i had to change one in mine a while ago an the mechanic said that i had to get a new tailshaft as the uni joints couldnt be pressed out. not 100% though
