The valves are the same as the FJ20 and the S20 twin cam six from the Z's so I guess it would be the FJ20's father and the S20's son?

The main difference is the LZ has been designed as a race engine. The FJ is a good race engine :)
You cannot the same grunt from an FJ as the LZ as the ports are not designed as well.

Mmmm, KB10 with F3 engine, now that would definately be no ordinary car.

It has been a long wait. I think the LZ will be better suited to the stanza coupe, as they were run with these engines in the works rally cars.

The 510SSS coupe will get the FIA L18 engine.

Trouble is money has to be found to get the coupes finished :(

Ah well, some time to build the engines while I save up again.

I have enough to get it running as is but i have to get the gear drive section for the cams checked and crack tested as if one of htese fails the engine is toast :(

I figure there is still about $1200 to spend on crack testing, heat treating and a bit of fabrication. I do not intend to run it dry sumped and will use a dissy and carbs rather than the injection I think. It all depends on the parts shape up. Les Collins did the head 2 years ago so it should be fine as is. I need to flow bench it and do a bit of specification verification via materials testing to ensure all is up to scratch.

Assuming all is well with the parts, I think it would be best to use it for occasional road use and some sprints (with a reduced rev limit) than use it for race only use.

The other TOMEI LZ14 engine skeleton only suited the L14 - L18 blocks. I though of trying to get italso as spares but the wallet is stuffed for a long while I think.
This setup can be used on L20B or Z22 blocks as it came with a set of the taller cam gear drive train plates. I also have three sets of drive plates suitable for the shorter L14 - L18 blocks as well. This gives me plenty of options.

I have a works L20B block with siamesed bores that had Z22 bore cores fitted when it was cast. That would make a good stiff 2 litre or even 2 litre turbo block. I will just have to check out all the options and see which is best for the parts I have.

At least I will have plenty of time to make up my mind while the pocket recovers

Good stuff can't wait to see that up and running again...did it include rods etc that were missing from the other engine??

Congratulations on a good score. I'm not too sure that i want to know what it cost now that I have seen the costing on your FIA head, but I fear that your wallet may have taken a near fatal blow..

If anyone is interested, I have just picked up the LZ head and drive train parts from Robbie Thompsons LZ 1600.

The head has been fully rebuilt with T6 hardening and all new seats guides and valves.
