Theres a a12 on ebay at the moment for sale thats been rebuilt and its $1800

yeah- it's a bit expensive for a rebuild don't you think?

I rebuilt my BMW M20 6 cylinder for less than that, and those parts are damn expensive compared to an a12! Mind you don't go to Repco for one a those- they'll tell you $10000 changeover.

I guess it all comes down to what you can do yourself, but when we rebuilt our a12 for the 1200, it cost around $400 including getting the head faced, valves cut, and a hone on a stock bore.

Picking up an already worked a12 is a damn good idea - you will save a lot this way!

wow you guys need a vacation or somthing.
BACK ON TOPIC!!!
Im rebuilding another a15 of mine. Got everything i need: head, sump, rocker cover, inlet manifold, thermostat gaskets, rings, valve stem seals, thermostat, oil vilter, oil for a grand total of $260.00 NZ. Thats with a little discount no dout but should be around 300$ or so for all the parts needed to do a decent rebuild.
Also picked up a bore honer for $50.

Im not doing bearings as they are good but they really arnt very expensive.
So if you know what you are doing and have some spare time you can do a budget rebuild for really cheap.
That is unless you think, well as long as the cam is out i might as well get it ground or those ports are looking small haha.
so yea, just some thoughts.
Take a chill pil guys, these are 1200's we talking about, no need to get intense.
peace

If you are gonna do it, atleast do it good. It could have been me chatting up the legal schoolgirls. What day was it? Friday I did see a guy dressed as batman chatting up schoolboys. Its self explanitary why I didnt chat to you.
Quick question: Who is it you're trying to impress? God knows I dont come on here to impress anyone.

You are cool in my book though.Open in new window
