I bought my genuine GX head for $300 and then spent $500 on full re-con, new vavles, seats, port and flow (130hp flow).

just wait for pick a part to have $25 heads and go get an a15 one even, will bolt to the sunny a12 you have (even the 120y version with the mid dizzy mount). will lower your compression but at least you can increase timing to compensate :)

I wanted to port the head off the engine i picked up, whilst keeping my original up and running. Replacing the worked head with the original and adding an exhaust system was as far as i wanted to get for the present time.
Wasn't planning on doing a full rebuild of the spare engine, but was dreaming about making a turbo setup for it. Was seriously thinking about dropping an A15 in but then it still wouldn't solve the problems that already exist.

There are lots of things i would like to do but it all comes down to money, time and effort.

Ok Gino 120y I have a a14 head you can have for 50$ has valve , springs but hasnt got the rocker gear on the top and no rocker cover sorry ,but i can get it transported to melb for nothing for you via my dads work you will have to picki it up ,Im sending some stuff to melbourne this week so let me know cheers geoff

for that money, just go get an a14 head and pay $300 for it to be ported and cleaned up.... has bigger valves and will flow more than a gx head or gx spec head. then when you rebuild that motor get some hi compression pistoons as the a14 will drop the cr slightly, and you will have more than enough power for that 120y gino120y....

You mentioned that everything has already been done.

For the porting alone you were quoted $300. Add valve seats, manifold port matching, valve guides, seals and a skim and you would be getting close to $500 and you still haven't purchased a core head!

The head is worth what the market will pay.

PS, $300 for head porting is not expensive. Depending how far you want to go, ie rewelding the chambers and starting fresh, you could quite easily double and triple that figure. If the air doesn't flow through the head then the rest is for show.

I think the guy wants more like 500+ !!!
He seems to think its worth the price of manufacturing an A12 into GX specs.

I'll find out at the end of the week how much he will let me have it for.

I went to a local head place and he wanted 300+ for a mild port and polish not including any valve work. He must have had his hand on it when i asked him.

well since no one else is helping out I'll say start at 60 bucks and work your way up to about 150. If that gets you a black eye I'm sorry
