#3 Re: So is PULP ok for my late A15?
Davo1200 Posted on: 2001/1/12 2:59
I was running my stocko A15 on optimax for the last 4 months or so. Every now and then i would give it a splash of leaded but the optimax made it run a hell of alot better. Before the
optimax it wouldnt ilde steady and would ping under load. I was mainly trying to flush out most of the leaded stuff with optimax as the race A14 was on its way in. I didnt want to run
that on leaded as optimax seems to be the better option with the higher octain.

Linc, pulp is fine to use as the datsun a series engines have stainlees steel valves and hardend seats standard, so there is no need to panic about burning valves or seats, but the
standard valve stem guides should really be replaced with k-lines, these valve guides are made for use with unleaded. The standard guides will be ok for fair while but they will wear
and you will notice blue smoke when at idle and just taking off like when the valve stem seals are stuffed.

Whats the general consensus here? Is PULP alright to run? Because ive heard that LRP is actually making peoples engines run like crap, and Ive heard from a mechanic that
it will destroy your engine over time.
I also read that most japanese engines from about 82 onwards are ok to use with ULP, because they already ave the hardened valve thingys.
Thanks, Linc.
