Don't take any comments the wrong way. I think sugestions are a good idea. But so are sugestions on why the things sugested are not a good idea.

At the end of last year Danielblues made this thread Webmasters TODO List
His first post explains what is planned and why things haven't changed.
In time when Daniel and Pedro get time, I am sure things will change but the main factor is having time.
Both of them regularly check in on the forum but dont forget that they also like to spend time checking things out like all of us. Who wants to work all the time?
I do recall there used to be a Contact Us button on the top left. My guess is it was removed to prevent members waiting on replies that the boys never have time to reply to all. I have always contacted Pedro through other means and he has always replied and helped me out, before the day is through. And required things do get done, like bullshit threads deleted.
Whats all this mean?
Make sugestions, also make them as to why things arent worth doing. But dont expect things to change unless they are required. With time the boys will get time and can get on with evolving the site. Until then, the site is still operational and as good as its always been these many years.

Dont ever forget that the donation function is always there. Thats one thing that will majorly help in keeping the site up and running and can even help it get bigger and better.

I think this thread is a good idea. If the Branco Bros have any spare time and space to freshen things up they'll have a little list of ideas to help.
If the News on the home page is too time consuming to keep up, maybe they should get rid of it. Add another 10 recent discussions to the list instead.

Or, don't do anything and leave well enough alone.

Just don't pull the plug

It might be a stupid idea, but would anyone be interested in having a 1200 chat room?

I'm just glad the site is here. The stuff like old news is just minor compared to the rest.

I totally agree. I don't mind hearing about 1000s (us 1200 guys need our history lesson) and about B210 and B310 since they are the succesors and share many parts. But I could really do without all the talk about the 610, 710, 720, Skyline, etc.

Feel free to mention it relative, like "these Skyline wheels fit a 1200"-- that's good.

But "Here's pictures of my Stanza", that's a waste of time for most 1200 people. There's always Ozdat and other general Datsun sites for that kind of thing.

Look I see where the members who have been on here for longer are coming from, but surely just a little tweak and some small fresh ideas put in place will ensure it does remain as the best 1200 site on the net.

For Dattodude to say "If there ain't no news, then there ain't no news....." just surprises me to think that the 1200 scene has been dead since 2003 according to the news page.

Surely all the meets and cruises that have happened since then should appear here, to generate more interest in gatherings etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but they are all archived aren't they?

I see guys trying to organise meets and cruises on the main forum page. If somethings' on then it should be in your face on the front page (obviously moderated).

Don't get me wrong I'm not putting the site down at all just trying to generate a thread that might generate some fresh ideas. Surely if your car sat around for over 3 years "unchanged and modified" you'd want to do something about it??

How about another approach: We all suggest something we think would improve this website and or the forums etc? If something happens all well and good, if not I'll still remain a member

Idea 1: Voting poll about certain 1200 topics (simple yes/no polls e.g Do you prefer old school power or conversions). At a quick glance on a counter you could get involved and vote, no need for a forum, but just keeps people thinking.

Idea 2.: Front page facelift.

Anyone else?

Phunkdoktaspok got it right.

Hahaa those 2 are funny to see together, especially considering many people or should I say many login names seem to always have a whinge about what ever I seem to write.

I see where Buff is coming from with the Pic counters. Like the top pics continue to be top pics mainly because they are noted on the front page and this makes them an easy find for spectators. Personally this has never bothered me and I cant really see it doing so in the future.

When it comes to the old events at the bottom. I think its pretty cool to still see them. It always makes you think - cool this site been going since way back when.

I reallly dig the random pic generator - even if it occasionally pops up an old pic of mine and makes me think - #### my car been in the garage since way back then.

I dont believe it is as easy as saying " spend an afternoon to change things ". The Branco Bros made this site this way by choice and when they feel a need to change the layout I am sure they will.
Untill then, its easy enough for each member to change the screen style of their own, in their account.

I think one of the best things about this site, is that you dont have to be a member to view pages. Sorta filters out the time wasters from the geniune.

One thing to remeber is this is a 1200 dedicated website and as of the last year or so its like members have tried to make it just a Datsun website. Even though I love 1000's, I think this site should mainly focus on the 1200 like it was made for. Sometimes I login and its hard to see anything 1200 on the front page besides the website name and the 1200 pic at the top.
Thats what I think anyways. Feel free to whinge in what ever login you choose to use.

yeh some of that stuff is years old n wen u see it u get ur hopes up about a gathering near you and u then find out it happened 2 or 3 years ago. why dont u just make a link with a page showing all of the history of the datsun1200 website. wood look a lot better and make the overall feel of the page that much better. afterall this is a site for people who own and respect their datsuns. we shouldnt have a site that is out of date and messy trying to promote the datto when that is not what we do ourselves. just spend one afternoon fixing up the layout and content and give the datsun name the respect that it deserves.

This site is the only 1200 game going on the internet.

The only 1200 members that aren't here are either blind, stupid or computer illiterate.

More people equals more running costs. Ever run a website? Understand the costs?

I don't want the Branco boys paying for non-contributing people to hang around and do nothing but cause BS trouble, and degrade what is a good website.

Phunkdoktaspok got it right. If there ain't no news..there ain't no news.

Are you suggesting you don't want any more members dattodude?

I don't recall suggesting advertising on the site?

Spark interest?...there's 60 people on the site at the moment...that's busy enough.

This is not a commercial ad-filled website with annoying popups and ads everywhere.

More people equals more website running costs...

You weren't around in the beginning, but that's why we left Yahoo clubs/groups. Too much stupid advertising.
