Is it not easier to just repair sections, or is the whole piece rusted out or mangled? The front have of the piece is mangled, I thought it would just be stronger to replce the whole piece. As far as me able to handle the job not sure there I am a welder/fabricator, Diesel mechanic, so I have alot of experince, just none in the body work or any real engineering experince. its the one in the photo

Would I do it? Yeah and I would take measurements before I started. Should you attempt it? Well you are asking questions here. This gives me a good idea about your confidence of completeing this job. Is it not easier to just repair sections, or is the whole piece rusted out or mangled?

would be interested to know how you get on with this. Iam in the same situation with my ute. I have been told it can be done. I think maybe a pannel beater would be the place to ask

If I decide to go this route I will change both sides, but not sure how much of a chance I am taking on destroing car. Are they welded in originally, like at the core support?

Sure, it's possible, but it is the entire side of the engine compartment (including the strut towers), a structural member.
Last year someone on eBay was selling new old stock. Maybe it was tuledude (eBay seller). I think they didn't sell. PN: 64100-H7000 ASSY-HOODLEDGE,RH 64101-H7000 ASSY-HOODLEDGE,LH
